DOWNLOAD: Cheers Elephant - "Waster Time" (from The Key Studio Sessions 1/5/2011)
Philadelphia psychedelic rock group Cheers Elephant released their second LP, Man is Nature, to a sold out crowd at World Cafe Live Downstairs (400+) last month and the band is playing a show at Spike Hill on March 4th. The band is playing alongside Steel Phantoms, Gold Streets and I Love Monsters and Cheers Elephant takes the stage at 8PM.
Deli Magazine described Cheers Elephant's new disc as "reminiscent of all the best British Invasion folk rock, like some Byrds-meets-Yardbirds combo refined by time...Opener “Shark Attack” is inviting and should be considered a front runner for the first single, a piece of spontaneous power-pop that wouldn’t sound out of place on the current Polyvinyl Records roster. “My Bicycle Ride” has the vocal harmonies kicked into full gear and sports a soaring hook."

Wolf and Cub Announce U.S. Digital Release of "Science and Sorcery" (Psychedelic Rock)
DOWNLOAD: Wolf & Cub - Seven Sevens (MP3)
Australian psychedelic rockers Wolf & Cub have been busy since the release of their 2006 debut full-length Vessels. The band has toured Australia with bands like TV On The Radio, The Killers, Queens of the Stone Age, Wolfmother and Primal Scream. Wolf & Cub also made it over to the US in the Spring of '07 for a few NYC shows. I remember shows at Cake Shop and Union Pool but there may have been others area shows as well.
Wolf & Cub's new disc, Science and Sorcery, came out a few months ago overseas and the disc is now scheduled for a digital release on August 4th (through Dot Dash) here in the US. The new disc was produced by Chris "Bumblebeez" Colonna who gives the band more of a Primal Scream-style dance floor groove all while keeping their psychedelic roots intact. Australia's Yen magazine described the new disc as "Psychedelic rock you can dance to… two thumbs up”.

Philadelphia's On Mono Are Playing The Annex on Jan. 10th (Psychedelic, Drone)
Philadelphia's On Mono are playing The Annex on January 10th with Law of the Sea, Dead Stars and Dujeous.
On Mono is a six-piece psychedelic/alt-rock outfit out of Philadelphia whose music is reminiscent of The Doors, The Velvet Underground and Spacemen 3. The band recently released their debut EP, "Turn Out The Lights", which is available from CD Baby. The Philadelphia Weekly described On Mono as "Velvets-inspired drone and acid-psych that shimmers like a primal thrum on the back of your eyelids".
