Seemingly touring non-stop after the release of their debut disc Heart Attack last year, Woodhands haven't slowed down with the releases. They released a live EP (an iTunes exclusive live session), a remix EP ("Dancer") and a couple cover tunes.
With all the emo bands who think it is "ironic" to do a straight-forward cover of a pop song, Woodhands does a brilliant deconstruction of Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl". This rendition is far from the original teeny-bopper anthem - check out Dan Werb's growls on the chorus. According to Werb, "we did it because the spirit of the song spoke to us: It's that feeling of being overwhelmed by the moment, of indulgence, of unfettered hedonism. Also, Katy Perry is hella hot. And the song is dope."
Woodhands are started a two week US today in Kansas City and the tour wraps up at The Delancey on May 16th.
