DOWNLOAD: Dare Dukes - "Bakersfield" (MP3)
San Jose, CA to Savannah, Georgia transplant Dare Dukes released his debut CD, Prettiest Transmitter of All, late last year and he is coming to New York for a show at The Living Room on June 21st.
Prettiest Transmitter of All mixes wistful pop hooks with the eccentricities of Northern California's exit-ramp culture. "Everyone knows the clichés about suburbia: It's a stark, sanitized landscape, pretty much soulless,” Dare explains. “No one needs to remind us of that. I'm more interested in the poetry I see there--the weirdness, the anomalies, the resistance. Even in this unlikely grid you can find courageous people and precious things."
Dare Dukes' show at The Living Room starts at 8PM and a $5.00 donation is suggested.
