DOWNLOAD: Happy Body Slow Brain - "Emperor"
Taking Back Sunday (TBS) guitarist Matt Fazzi and x-TBS touring guitarist Isaac Bolivar have formed a new band Happy Body Slow Brain. The pair recruited Gavin Castleton Trio drummer Eduardo Torres and the band has just released their debut disc Dreams of Water.
Musically, Dreams of Water has a deep prog-rock/R&B groove, featuring keyboard-heavy elements such as the Rhodes piano and thick, layered synthesizers displaying shades of Tears For Fears. While rooted in rock and roll, Dreams Of Water shows Happy Body Slow Brain incorporating more of an R&B chord and melody influence in the style of Steely Dan. The album is dense with rich, layered vocals and harmonies that resemble the styles of The Beach Boys or Jellyfish. When the songs lean more on the guitars, they draw influence from mathy/guitar-centric bands like The Dismemberment Plan, Oceansize, and Counterfit with distinct and unique melodic and rhythmic guitar parts.
Happy Body Slow Brain have a couple upcoming area shows this month:
Oct. 08 -- Pianos, NYC
Oct. 10 -- Maxwell's, Hoboken, NJ
Oct. 12 -- Knitting Factory, Brooklyn, NY
