J.G.Thirlwell (Foetus) Has A Series of Shows Scheduled This Week

Jim Thirlwell/FoetusJim Thirlwell (aka Jim Foetus) plays in town way too infrequently so it is a pleasant surprise to see that he has a series of shows scheduled this week.

JG Thirlwell's commission for string quartet and robot instruments
at Three-Legged Dog Art and Technology Center

The string quartet for JG's piece will consist of Leyna Papach, Elena Park, Karen Waltuch and Okkyung Lee

Robosonic Eclectic is presented as part of the New York Electronic Art Festival (NYEAF), a month-long celebration of cutting-edge electronic music performed at various venues from May 12 - June 10, 2007.

J.G Thirlwell's Manorexia
at the Bang On A Can Marathon at the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center, New York City.

This year's Bang On A Can Marathon is an incredible 26 hour concert. It is free and will feature performances by many artists including the Bang on a Can Allstars, Ethel, Real Quiet, The Books, Iva Bittova, Mashriq, ICE, Dalek, Yo La Tengo and many more. There will also be performances of works by Steve Reich, Brian Eno, Louis Andriessen, Edgar Varese, Thurston Moore, Meredith Monk, Alvin Lucier, Michael Gordon, Julia Wolfe, David Lang and many more.

Manorexia will perform on Sunday afternoon at around 2pm.

This version of Manorexia will comprise of David Cossin-percussion, Felix Fan - Cello, Andy Russo-piano , Leyna Papach - violin , Elena Park - violin , Karen Waltuch - viola and JG Thirlwell - laptop. (Cossin, Fan and Russo also comprise the ensemble Real Quiet)
