Experimental metal band Castevet have released their debut 7", "Stones/Salt" on Paragon Records. I used to buy a lot of the limited edition vinyl in the 80's and 90's so it is kind of cool is that this release is on clear vinyl and limited to 300 copies. Castevet will be going into PAINcave Studios this September to record their debut full-length which is targeted for release in 2010. The band will be recording with with engineer Colin Marston (Dysrhythmia, Behold...The Arctopus, Krallice) .
“Stones/Salts" has its foundation in the demonology tome "The Lesser Key of Solomon". In this book,Paimon is keeper of the secrets of music, art and philosophy. His appearance is heralded by demons in the form of men blaring discordant trumpets and rattling cymbals. In order to receive Paimon’s knowledge, a conjurer must first allow him to ask any question he wishes. “Stones/Salts” reshapes conventional black metal sounds into a new form that asks questions of the listener before revealing the secrets hidden within its epic structures.
Castevet's next show is June 17th at Cherry St. Station in Wallingford, CT. Also on the bill are Bone Awl, Ashdautas, and Volahn.
