HUFF THIS! (Alison Clancy) Play Show Tomorrow Night, July 28th, at Highline Ballroom

HUFF THIS! has returned to its roots with a new, all-girl line up. It's a performance that lives in the worlds of of both music and dance, born in the basement of The Metropolitan Opera where Alison Clancy and Allison Jones dance together. In the past year, during breaks between opera acts, they started jamming and singing in the ballet studios, and recruiting other Met girls to dance. They recently joined up with impish drummer Erica Mancini and producer Benjamin Ickies and are ready to crash the Highline Ballroom on Sunday.

Clancy, notorious as the wild and emotive front woman for a few bands, leaves you no choice but to get involved in her shows. Her electric singing and dancing shakes the room with feline energy and her crew of seductive creatures weaves back and forth between the stage and crowd, literally consuming the audience. Echoing the raw energy of Patti Smith and PJ Harvey, HUFF THIS! delivers visceral performances of adoration and murderous vengeance.

On Sunday, December 11th we're throwing a benefit concert featuring Dangerous Muse & Eva and Her Virgins. The event will also feature two floors of art, DJs, and burlesque performances in a 700+ person venue. We invite all to join us in this night of fun & celebration to benefit the Occupy Movement!

Sunday, December 11th – 7:30 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. Tickets will cost $15 at the door. Proceeds will go directly to supporting the Occupy Movement. Tickets will also be available online shortly.

HUFF THIS! is a dream-thrash band fronted by Alison Clancy, a creature who prances, prowls, and gets into trouble. The music is a visceral collage of electro-acoustic cello by infamous composer Chrissy Lancaster, spastic, sweat inducing drums by Tony Long, and Sonny Ratcliff creeping all over the bass. Alison washes it over with dreamy piano, guitar, and bipolar vocals. This band will make you dance and let you cry. Tis the season to be merry and spread the love! Sometimes this means spreading the wealth....All proceeds of the concert go to Occupy Wall Street. Other bands playing that night are Dangerous Muse, Eva and Her Virgins, Copal, and Shoot The Freak. This concert is being officially sponsored and promoted by OccupyWallStreet.org and has been stirring up quite a bit of controversy within the movement.

HUFF THIS! recorded their first album in 2008 at Graham Nash's home studio. HUFF THIS! has since been in slow germination for a few years. Last year HUFF THIS! was on hiatus as Alison worked on the breakout pop project Electric Child (which landed on the scene at CMJ and was sponsored by SPIN Magazine to play on bills with TV On The Radio, The Kills, and Skrillex at SXSW) Alison then took some time away from music to dance at The Metropolitan Opera and tour with ZviDance through Israel and Poland. But now she is back to crafting the moody sounds of HUFF THIS! this with an incredible cast of NYC musicians.

Huff This! (Alison Clancy) Posts New Song "Lovin You" As Free Download

Alison Clancy and her dream-thrash band Huff This! have just released a video for the new song "Lovin You", which will be on the band's forthcoming album tuff love which is set for release this fall. The video was directed by Nick Atkins and captures band-leader Alison Clancy dancing on a trashed Coney Island shore as a lightning storm rolls in.

Huff This! is vox/piano-Alison Clancy, cello -Chris Lancaster and drums -Molly Allis.



Alison’s wild physical and vocal abandon ricochets through our hearts. Conventions are shattered. She makes people nervous and breathless. Alison has even has even been banned from a few NYC venues due to her habit of jumping off pianos and knocking shit over. She recently opened for The Kills and TV On The Radio at the SXSW SPIN Magazine Party and BackstageAxxess.com wrote that she "[s]tole the show, with a second stage performance that had sugar, spice, sunglasses and shiny gold spandex....combining music with visual imagery and dance for an eye catching, mesmerizing experience."

When not wreaking musical havoc, Alison works as a classical and contemporary dancer with The Metropolitan Opera and tours internationally with the critically acclaimed Israeli choreographer Zvi Gotheiner. Alison has also performed at the Guggennheim Museum, Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, Lincoln Center Theater, Baryshnikov Arts Center and Alice Tully Hall. All this "uptown" pressure is furiously unleashed in her HUFF THIS! performances. Her primary band-mate, cellist Chris Lancaster, is a renowned composer for dance and film who's music is performed in the top theaters and opera houses around the world and who's collaborators include Bill T. Jones, Jiri Kylian, and Larry Keigwin.

Huff This' Alison Clancy's new project Electric Child is playing Mercury Lounge on January 6th.

Sadie: If you had to describe your band-dance-art and what you’re doing to someone who had never heard of you before, what would you say?

Alison Clancy: I’m working on a new electro-punk-disco project called Electric Child. My job is to be my crazy creature self: I think as little as possible. Club owners and authorites are often alerted when we start, cause I have a habit of jumping off pianos and climbing stuff. I make people nervous, but usually land on my feet. The music is sonically smashed by my cohorts Roger Greenawalt and Genji Siraisi. We might change the name to Baby Voltage.

Alison Clancy is understood by the refined to be the best new Rock Front Person from New York City since Karen O. Her primary stalker is named Peter. Seriously. He's French. His persistence has inspired a new song called "Peter Peter" that will be debuted at Mercury Lounge. When not wreaking musical havoc, Alison works as a dancer with The Metropolitan Opera, Zvi Dance, Shen Wei Dance Arts, and has appeared at the Guggennheim Museum, Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, and Lincoln Center Theater. All this "uptown" pressure is furiously unleashed in her growling Electric performances.

On Bass is Recovering Crack Addict and Visionary Record Producer Roger Greenawalt (The Pierces/Ben Kweller/Iggy Pop) He has done dinner with Allen Ginsberg, lunched with Yoko, and shared breakfast with Warren Buffett. Recently he spawned a project called Beatles Complete On Ukulele where he plays the entire Beatles catalog in 24 hours.

On Drums is the skeptical primate Ethan Eubanks. Ethan has played with Ivy, Crash Test Dummies, David Mead, Joseph Arthur, Teddy Thompson, and on numerous on air commercials that even now are passing through your deteriorating body. Eubanks has shaken hands with presidents, dined with dignitaries, and romanced models.

Electric Child most recently performed right before Kim Gordon at the sold-out Kathleen Hanna tribute show at Knitting Factory.

Surprise special guests at past shows have included Zee Avi, Fiona Silver and Danny Musengo, who flirt, wail, and take fierce air guitar solos!

Electric Child is sharing the bill with The Wellington Papers and Voxhaul Broadcast. Tickets are $10 and Electric Child goes on at 9:30PM.
