Glint is Playing a Free Show at Brooklyn Bowl on Feb. 18th (Electro-Rock)

Local electro-rock band Glint is playing a free show at Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday, Feb. 18th as part of the Hank and Cupcakes Video Release Party. Glint got a lot of buzz with their 2009 release Sound in Sight which had songs featured on iTunes and Melrose Place and the band also made two live appearances on Fearless Music (video from the first appearance is below).

Glint's music has been described as "emulative of early David Bowie and Eno-esque atmosphere" and, last year, the UK Metro stated “Muse's Matt Bellamy is a clear influence on Glint singer Jase Blankfort, but the New York outfit are arguably even more epic than the British band, full of glistening synths, massive hooks and orchestral swatches [...] This may be your only chance to catch them in relatively intimate surrounds before the inevitable arenas".



Glint is currently in the studio working on a new disc so this show is essentially a warm-up show for the band's upcoming US tour in March.

The Wombats - Photos from The Annex, NYC 8/15/07

I thought The Wombats' show last night at the Annex was fabulous. The club was packed and I read on NME that the show sold out. The band was "on" and played a hot 50 minute set. I don't know all of the band's material so I couldn't put together a set list but I recognized "Acapella/Girls, Boys And Marsupials", "Kill the Director", "Backfire at the Disco", "Moving to New York" and "Let's Dance to Joy Division". The band played about 10 songs in total.

The band is a lot of fun live and are almost certain to be playing bigger rooms during their next trip to town.

The Stalkers Play a Free Show Tomorrow at Pass Out Records in Williamsburg

The Stalkers are playing a free show tomorrow afternoon at Pass Out Records in Williamsburg. The show is at 3:00PM and Pass Out Records is located at 131 Grand Street. There are a couple bands playing with The Stalkers which include The Makeout Party (from Los Angeles)and Blondsai (from Chicago).

The new Luna Lounge moves to Brooklyn

New York venue Luna Lounge is set to reopen in it's new location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn this Friday (January 19). The venue, which closed its doors on Ludlow Street in June 2005, was a significant venue for much of the Lower East Side music scene for ten years. The venue saw performances from many of the city's most successful indie rock bands including Interpol, The Strokes and Stellastarr*. The venue's relaunch will see a performance from lauded Brooklyn/Chapel Hill band The Comas, and will continue to operate on weekends until February when it will announce a nightly schedule.

UK Buzz Band The View Playing Two Shows Next Week @ Mercury Lounge

UK buzz band The View are supposed to make their US debut next week and are scheduled to play two sold-out shows at the Mercury Lounge on Tuesday and Wednesday. It looks like these shows may be in question as The Courier reported earlier this week that lead singer Kyle Falconer has been hospitalized with pneumonia.
