Peasant Releases New Disc "Shady Retreat" on March 2nd / Show at Mercury Lounge on Feb. 24

Damien DeRose (aka Peasant) is releasing his third disc, Shady Retreat, on Paper Garden Records on March 2nd.

While Peasant’s new album was recorded in several locales, DeRose spent the majority of his time in the attic of a 200-year-old farmhouse. Shady Retreat puts together the techniques DeRose learned in the studio for On The Ground, while staying true to his DIY beginnings. It's a gorgeous and ambitious collection of Peasant's best, most exciting work. Sixties-esque guitar and pop songs are encircled with layered harmonies and synths, as Peasant sings his dreamy lyrics with his usual conviction.

In a recent review, RCRDLBL said that '"'The End' will make you sigh at what could have been, while 'Well Alright' will have you mouthing words you don't yet know."
