New Orleans DIY/junkyard folk artist Hurray for the Riff Raff are playing five shows in NYC next month.
Hurray for the Riff Raff play somewhat melancholy, southern gothic alt-folk. The band utilizes traditional (accordion, banjo) and non-traditional (toy harp, musical saw) accompaniments to draw in and hold listeners with their tales of heartbreak and loss.
There are a number of tracks streaming on both the band's MySpace page and on their page on Aime Street.
Hurray for the Riff Raff's local tour dates are:
Dec 4 2008 8:00PM, 1087 LOFTNYC (above Goodbye Blue Mondays), Brooklyn
Dec 5 2008 8:00PM, Pete’s Candy Store, Brooklyn
Dec 6 2008 8:00PM, Silent Barn, Ridgewood
Dec 7 2008 8:00PM, TBD
Dec 8 2008 8:00PM, Pianos, NYC
