Walter Schreifels Plays CD Release Show at The Studio at Webster Hall Tomorrow Night

Walter Schreifels is playing a CD release show tomorrow night at The Studio at Webster Hall. An Open Letter to the Scene comes out today on Academy Fight Song and this is Walter's first solo disc. This new disc is described as stripped-down, mostly acoustic arrangements which includes a cover of Agnostic Front's "Society Suckers" and a reworking of CIV's "Don't Gotta Prove It" (which was written by Walter).

“I think it’s about time for me to step out there on my own for a while now because lord knows I haven’t been much good at keeping bands together,” Schreifels responds with a laugh when asked why for the first time in his musical career he decided to release these songs as Walter Schreifels. “It took me a while to feel confident performing solo and under my own name,” he continues. “It’s also been an adjustment not being in a band and having that kind of feedback and camaraderie to fall back on. To stay creative I needed to change the format and put the weight of it on my shoulders, which meant finding new ways of achieving the sound in my head.”



Tickets for tomorrow night's show are $10 and Walter is playing with Atlantic/Pacific and Jump Into the Gospel (free 4-track download).

Agnostic Front - "Victim In Pain" (1984) Lineup Reunites for 25th Anniversary Show at The Bell House

Agnostic Front's 1984 / Victim In Pain lineup is reuniting for one show at The Bell House on February 26th. This show is all ages; tickets are $15 and doors are at 8PM.

Roger Miret, Vinny Stigma, Rob Kabula and Dave Jones haven't played together since 1984. “This is the CLASSIC lineup together again doing vintage AF songs and some classics. We couldn’t be more excited to do this!” said vocalist Roger Miret.

To help Agnostic Front commemorate the 25th anniversary since the original release of Victim In Pain, Bridge Nine Records has put together a proper reissue. Victim In Pain has been given extra special treatment, with a gatefold LP cover, complete with a dirty gold metallic ink with an embossed logo & title. The gatefold opens up to the original handwritten layout of the first pressing, and later censored original cover is printed full size on the front and back of the dust sleeve.

Bridge Nine Records has also reissued Agnostic Front's 1983 debut EP "United Blood" which has a similar metallic ink & embossed logo front cover and also has the original cover design printed in black and white on the enclosed dust jacket.

Vinny Stigma Announces Shows at Generation Records and The Pyramid (Agnostic Front)

Vinny Stigma (from Agnostic Front) released his first solo disc, New York Blood, earlier this month and he is playing a couple local shows.

The first is an in-store at Generation Records (210 Thompson Street in the West Village) at 7PM on Thursday, February 26th.

The second is a hardcore matinee at The Pyramid on Sunday, March 1st. Also on the bill are Joe Coffee (Sheer Terror), The Bleeding and Last Call Brawl. Tickets are $10 and doors are at 3PM.

Gorilla Biscuits and CIV Added to Black N Blue Bowl @ Studio B, April 5th

I have been procrastinating getting tickets for this show but this recent announcement will get me moving. Black N Blue Productions have comfirmed that both Gorilla Biscuits and CIV will be playing the show next Saturday. I don't think Gorilla Biscuits have played in NYC since their 2006 shows at CBGB and BB Kings and CIV broke up in 2000. The lineup includes Agnostic Front, Madball, Terror, Breakdown (reunion), and Fahrenheit 451.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about the Agnostic Front show at Cha-Cha's in Coney Island. I didn't realize that was a Rocks Off show and Rocks Off is now booking bands at Cha-Cha's.

Aside for Sound of Urchin, it looks like some great acts are going into Cha-Chas. Given the size of the club, I would think the Agnostic Front and Bouncing Souls shows will be completely crazy.

Agnostic Front Plays Coney Island In August

Agnostic Front is starting a three week tour on July 18th which they are calling the East Coast Fury Tour. The band is playing the first week with (the fabulous) Municipal Waste, Hoods and Pledge of Resistance. For the later two weeks (which includes two dates in the area), the band is playing with Subzero, Hoods and Pledge of Resistance.
