EULA (Post-Punk) Plays Glasslands Gallery Tomorrow Night Along with Members of Deerhoof, Speedy Ortiz and Titus Andronicus (Castle of Spices)

Alyse Lamb, singer/guitarist from the post-punk trio EULA, is curating the "Castle of Spices" event tomorrow night at Glasslands Gallery. It is an evening filled w/ collaboration & experimentation with artists from all different mediums (music, dance, poetry, photography). Performances will be from Greg Saunier of Deerhoof, Sadie of Speedy Ortiz, Adam Schatz of Man Man, EULA....and many more.

This show is being presented by Famous Swords, which is an artist collective run by Lamb. In a recent Village Voice article, Lamb describes the collective as: "a huge production collective...we want to do music videos, recordings, t-shirts, kind of an all-encompassing art collective, that's kind of our vision behind it." EULA's latest video "Orderly" was produced by the collective and Lamb said "[w]e wanted to use sort of trippy psychedelic images that had a very feminine edge to them, but also [have it be] very sharp and angular to go with the sounds of the song."



Tickets for tomorrow night's show are $10 and doors are at 8PM.

EULA opens for Mission of Burma at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Jan. 19th

In late 2009, New Haven-to-Brooklyn post-punk band EULA was selected by Mission of Burma (through Matador's 'Battle for Burma' competition) to open for MOB at a free show at M.I.T. for Boston's "Mission of Burma Day". EULA has now been tapped to open for Mission of Burma at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Jan. 19th. Tickets are $20 and doors are at 8PM.

EULA's most recent release, Maurice Narcisse, came out last May and Paper Garden Records described the disc as "a playful treatise on pretension, part lamenting part castigating the metaphorical ‘character’ for his egotism. Alyses’ punching lyrics find their match in aggressive drums and plunging melodies, so despite the aforementioned woes, Maurice Narcisse is an undeniably fun listen. Give a listen to the record’s titular track, a smoldering, discombobulated pop song that EULA has made their specialty. It’s indubitably technical and well-crafted, every detail fired off with conviction and purpose."

Punk rock trio EULA have posted videos from recent appearances on WFMU and BreakThru Radio and the band is playing a couple local shows next month.

EULA is playing Fort Useless (36 Ditmars Street, Brooklyn, NY) along with MiniBone, Quiet Loudly and Ball of Flame Shoot Fire on Dec. 10th. On Dec. 15th, EULA is playing Cake Shop as part of Whatever Blog's Holiday Party. Also on the bill are Radical Dads, These United States, Hilly Eye and Libel - cover is $8 at the door.

Punk rock trio EULA is coming coming back through town next month and the band is playing five shows in Brooklyn over the course of the next few weeks.

EULA Returns to NYC for a Show at Cake Shop on May 10th

Due to curfew regulations, EULA played a shortened set at Bruar Falls last month but the band is coming back through for a show at Cake Shop this Tuesday (May 10th) with The Everymen. Cover is $5 and this is an early show that starts at 9PM.

EULA has a new 10-track disc Maurice Narcisse and the new material sounds great. Check out QRO Magazine's in-depth review of the new disc. Below is the video for the first single, "Texas Stampede".

A live recording of the track "Dirty Hands" (from Maurice Narcisse) is posted above. Based on the show at Bruar Falls, the band's sound has moved past the 'Sonic Youth-like' free-form dissonance to a much more targeted attack that is close in spirit to bands like Gang of 4 (EULA covered "To Hell With Poverty" at the show) and Big Black.

I wasn't previously aware that Bruar Falls had a hard curfew at Midnight (on Saturday night, no loss) so New Haven, CT art-punk band EULA played a blistering but abbreviated set at their record release show last Saturday.

The band has a new 10-track disc Maurice Narcisse and the new material sounded great live. A live version of the track "Dirty Hands" (from the new CD) is posted above. It has been a little while since I've seen EULA play live and Aylse's guitar work seems to have gotten more angular and jagged and the bass and drums rumble aggressively like a pile driver. All-in-all, the band's sound has moved past the 'Sonic Youth-like' free-form dissonance to a much more targeted attack that is close in spirit to bands like Gang of 4 (EULA covered "To Hell With Poverty" at the show) and Big Black.

EULA Plays Record Release Show at Bruar Falls on Saturday, April 16th

New Haven, CT art-punk band EULA is playing a record release show next Saturday at Bruar Falls for their new 10-track disc Maurice Narcisse which comes out on April 26th.

I've been a huge fan of EULA since catching their live show at Crash Mansion a few year back and the band has been winning over fans with frequent trips to NYC. Young & Pretty Blog recently posted an exclusive interview with vocalist Alyse Lamb and described the band as "EULA, a trio from New Haven, CT, in addition to Lamb, consists of: Jeff Maleri (bass, vocals) and Nate Rose (drums, vocals). Their sound is sexy, rough, and wild. Onstage, they are full of vigor; like a teenage garage band playing louder after their mom yells at them to unplug!"

EULA's record release show is next Saturday at Bruar Falls and sharing the bill are Pow Wow, Ghost Bunny and Shark?. Cover is $6 and the show starts at 8PM.

EULA Plays Death by Audio on Sunday, Jan. 16th

New Haven, CT post-punk band EULA are in town on Sunday for a show at Death By Audio with Moodrings and I'm Turning Into. Doors are at 8PM and the show starts at 9PM.

EULA has a new three song demo that was recorded late last year which follows 2009's strong six-song EP entitled "Language of Threat". One of the video from this disc, "Fight Riff", won the band the opening slot for the free Mission of Burma show at M.I.T. in 2009.

New Haven, CT post-punk band EULA are in town tomorrow for a show at Union Hall with Hounds Below and The Mess Around. EULA has been off the road for the last few months as they have been recording and the band will be giving copies of their new demo away for free at tomorrow night's show.

Tickets are $8.00 and EULA goes on at 8PM.



EULA released a strong six-song EP last year entitled "Language of Threat" and the video for "Fight Riff" won the band the opening slot for the free Mission of Burma show at M.I.T. last October.

Eula Wins Opens for Mission of Burma on Sunday in Boston (free show)

New Haven art-punk band Eula has been select by Mission of Burma (through Matador's 'Battle for Burma' competition) to open for MOB at a free show this Sunday at M.I.T. Major congrats to Eula and hopefully this will lead to bigger things (signing to Matador?).

This sounds kind of crazy but Boston’s City Council have declared October 4, 2009 as “Mission Of Burma Day” and Mission of Burma are playing a free show at MIT's East Campus Courtyard (map). The show kicks off at 2:30 with Eula who will then be followed by Boston's Big Bear.

Eula released a great 6-song EP entitled "Language of Threat" earlier this year and it looks like the video for "Fight Riff" is what won the band the 'Burma Battle'.



For anyone who isn't able to make it to Boston on Sunday, Eula returns to NYC on October 24th for a show at Shea Stadium.

Eula is Playing Bar Matchless Tomorrow Night, July 31st (Art-Punk)

New Haven, CT art-punk band Eula is playing a few shows around Brooklyn over the next few weeks and the band is starting out with a show at Bar Matchless tomorrow night. Eula takes the stage around 9:45PM tomorrow night and they are sharing the bill with Taigaa (8PM set time), Renminbi (8:50PM set time) and Pow Wow (10:30PM set time).

Bar Matchless is located at 557 Manhattan Avenue (@ Driggs) in Greenpoint.

The more that I work in and around the music industry, the less I understand the logic behind what draws a crowd. Last week, eula played a great set of original music to a decent-sized crowd at Crash Mansion. At the same time, there are classic rock bands (that feature one-two original members) playing to a sold out crowds of 1,000 - 2,000 fans. Somewhere there must be some logic here...

Getting serious for a moment, eula plays art-punk in the style of Pylon and Gang of 4. Lead singer Alyse Lamb has a distinctively raw and quavery voice that sits well on top of the band's angular guitar riffs and loping bass lines.



eula released a new EP, Language of Threat, back in March that is available through IndepenDisc, Amazon and iTunes.

Eula is Playing The Charleston Tomorrow Night, Feb. 14th (Go F*ck Your Valentine Show)
