The All-American Rejects really aren't my speed (and I am somewhat dubious as to whether I could survive a 10K) but Nike's "The Human Race 10K" is a pretty neat concept.
The race covers 25 cities around the globe so runners will be able to compete on a worldwide basis. All of the races will be run on August 31st with the first race kicking off in Taipei and the last race ending in Los Angeles. The NYC portion of the race starts at 6PM on 8/31 and the race is on Randall's Island. After each race, there is an exclusive concert in each city. In NYC, the band is The All-American Rejects (whose new disc in due out November 11th).
Race fees are $35 and here is a link to the Nike Human Race website where you can find complete information about the NYC portion of race.
